MORE ABOUT OUR
VETERINARY REFERRAL SERVICE
I’m Simon Want, the vet behind Advanced Veterinary Dermatology. I obtained my Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 2009, and I am on the register of Advanced Veterinary Practitioners. I qualified from The Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in 1996 and now have 30 years experience as a companion animal veterinary surgeon.
I have run a four-site GP practice over the last 25 years. I understand firsthand the time pressure busy general practitioners are under and how frustrating skin and ear cases can be - both from a clinical perspective and in relation to communication. Having retired from GP practice in May 2025 I now dedicate my time entirely to veterinary dermatology.
I am here to help you, your clients and their pets. Success depends on mutual respect and I never forget that you are entrusting me with your clients and their pets. Once a referral is made and an appointment booked I shall aim to get a quick diagnosis and construct an individualised, tailored treatment plan. As the referring veterinary surgeon you shall receive a report detailing the diagnosis and treatment plan.

WHO DO WE
Care For
WHO DO WE Care For
We care for all dogs and cats with skin and ear disease. With years of experience we know that each pet and their owner has unique needs and expectations. Our aim is to exceed those expectations. We’ll provide a tailored treatment plan based on an accurate diagnosis through our knowledge of the range of different skin diseases pets can have.
Communication is key, especially with our veterinary colleagues who choose to refer to us. The client, referring vet and ourselves should work as a team to deliver the best outcomes for all pets. This is how we show how much we care.
